CURRICULUM THEMES FOR 2009-2010 Our curriculum for the school year 2009-2010 will theme-based [All About Me and My World] using a variety of materials and learning experiences and will accompany our study of the alphabet,numbers,colors,shapes,seasons and holidays. We develop our phonemic awareness using the Frog Street Step Into Literacy series (aligned to meet new Pre-K standards) featuring a different alphabet friend in each book, as well as supplementing with Scholastic's Alpha Tales and numerous other curriculum materials. We use a color of the month in our art and play. We also feature a shape each month which we incorporate into all of our activities. We reinforce our number knowledge through daily calendar activities as well as counting practice throughout the day and through the songs and poems of the NumberTales series and Frog Street's Number Friends and Step Into Math. And we still manage to have fun and play! We learn simple signs and basic Spanish to reinforce our language skills. A large library of great children's books is vailable to the children at all times and we love to read together and on our own. Science and math are incorporated into all areas of the curriculum. The science center is one of the favorite choices during free play (see the pictures on the photo page). Introducing science, math, art, music and literacy as fun hands-on activities sets the stage for a lifetime of learning. November 2009 Theme - Fun on the Farm Color and Shape - Brown/ Square Class News- Birthday season is here. The youngest is now one and the oldest is two! We are busy learning all about the world around us and how we interact with it and each other. Give thanks for family and the season!
